The San Pedro Cactus – Discovering the Effects of Trichocereus pachanoi

Trichocereus pachanoi – San Pedro Cactus is a type of fast growing columnar cactus which traces its origin to Andes of Peru and Ecuador. The cactus is often cultivated 
over some places in South America and all over Peru. It can grow up to 20 feet high and has several multi-branches. One can easily tell the cactus from other types due to its dark green coating although at times it may be covered with a bluish, whitish waxy or greyish coating. The cactus is used especially among the Andes shamatic tribes during shamanic ceremonies. The dosage of the drink however vary depending on the purpose of a ceremony and on other plants such as tobacco, coca, Anadenanthera and Brugmansia which may be used in conjunction with Trichocereus pachanoi. It is also used for spiritual enhancement, healing, decision making by the shamans of Andes.
The effects of Trichocereus pachanoi – San Pedro Cactus from one individual to the other because of the different purposes in which the drink from the plant may be used for. However, its effects are more pleasant when compared to other plants such as peyote. It is slightly bitter and due to San Pedro cactus effects, one may feel a bit sickly. Some people vomit after taking a Trichocereus pachanoi – San Pedro Cactus drink. It most cases, the effects are felt between
one to two hours of ingestion and can last up to 15 hours. The ingested San Pedro takes full effect and is less overwhelming and tranquil. What’s more, its effects are not quite physical as compared to peyote.
Once taken, a person may feel drowsy or may feel as if he or she is dreaming. These effects are later accompanied by lethargy, slight dizziness a few minutes later and then one will experience great ”vision”, which is considered a clearing of all faculties. One will also feel numbness in the body followed by tranquility. The effect or rather the feeling of detachment which is characterized with a visual force which affects all senses including the sixth sense is also felt. A person feels a type of detachment from normal thoughts to other distant dimensions. Other potential san pedro cactus effects include:
- extreme sensitivity to light
- long lost memories may come back
- Emotional feelings including feeling of pleasure, laughter, crying, screaming, love for everything, fear among other effects.
You can only buy the San Pedro cactus for consumption purposes (e.g. to treat cardiac diseases, high blood pressure and treatment of nervous conditions) or cultivate it in countries where it is legalized. Otherwise, in other countries, such as the U.S., you may purchase it and possess it for cultivation (growing), collection and study/research purposes but not for human consumption.
